We had a great productive week of information technology 2 this week! Congratulations to Christian, Braden, Anthony, Maxwell, and Ivy for earning their MOS Certification in Microsoft Word 2016! I was really pleased with the work ethic these kids demonstrated and they are really doing a great job making themselves marketable career-ready individuals!
This week we are starting Microsoft Excel. We will be working towards the MOS certification for Excel 2016. We are doing a few review spreadsheets to refresh our memory, then we will be using logical formulas and various if statements. I'm excited to see how we do on this next MOS exam!

Microsoft Certification (week 3)
Info Tech 2 students have been working their tails off pushing through our Microsoft Word 2016 curriculum. Students have been creating and modifying a large variety of professional documents that are common place in the work force and IT industry. Next week, we will take a GMetrix test that covers everything students have learned, then will have some time to review and ask questions about the certification process. On Tuesday we will take our MOS certification test for Microsoft Word 2016 through Certiport. This test not only gives students industry-recognized certification in Word, but is also used as a summative assessment, so it is very important students study for this outside of class as well. Students all have a study guide that covers the information and gives some short descriptions on how to complete the various tasks. On Wednesday, we will start moving on to Microsoft Excel 2016 and working towards that certification.

finishing word certifications (week 2)
We've made it through the first week of info tech 2 class at NPHS! Students have done a great job working through their projects and learning advanced features of Microsoft Word 2016. We finished the week with a GMetrix test to measure our progress, then created a tutorial of our choice over an advanced feature of Microsoft Word.
Next week we come back to class on Tuesday and will keep pushing through our Microsoft Word materials. We will be looking to take our MOS exam to earn certification for Word either at the end of next week, or the start of the following week. These exams are also used as our summative assessments, so they will also count for a grade. Students have a study guide they can print off or save to their google drive so they may access it anywhere.
It's been a great start to the quarter, so let's keep up the great work!

Microsoft Word Certifications (Week 1)
Welcome back everybody! Looking forward to seeing everyone after a great break! Information Technology class 2 will start off this term by learning classroom expectations and procedures for this term. Students will be getting their IT accounts that we will be using this term. They will also be getting accounts for GMETRIX and Certiport, which we will talk a great deal about later.
Students will then be working towards earning their MOS certification for Microsoft Word 2016. These certifications are not only used as our summative assessments for the term, but they also look great on job applications as these our industry-recognized certifications. Normally, these tests would cost around $96 each, but because of a partnership we have with the University of Nebraska and Microsoft, we are able to offer the MOS certification exams to our students in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access for free. It is very rare that you find a high school course that offers you the opportunity to leave with such powerful tools that can really help students to be career-college ready and can really boost a resume.
We will see everybody on Monday!
